What’s the matter with all these soft assault fees? Before the headlines were focused on an incorrect Metro -Sandwich that hit an officer’s uniform, a woman was arrested and charged with assaults for actions that followed an attempt to move men accusation of gang activity. Sounds fancy, don’t? A lot of fluff to cushion what actually happened – she recorded the police, and for whatever reason, an officer’s hand brushed a cement wall when she was arrested for doing so. The stresses were such a bullshit that prosecutors were unable to find a magnificent jury to accuse her of “the crime.” And they tried to do that three Times.
Reuters has cover:
Federal prosecutors failed three times to persuade a magnificent jury to accuse a woman who accused of assaulting an agent during an immigration operation in Washington, DC, last month, a very unusual failure when President Donald Trump’s administration seeks to aggressive street capital.
Three different federal Grand juries refused to accuse Sydney Reid of assaults, resisted or obstacle by officers, accused prosecutors in short lodging late on Monday. Prosecutors then downgrade the offense to a wrongdoing.
Oof. Between these great juries and the one who decided against paying sandwiches throwing some mind, Trump’s “Tough on Crime” DC crash may not be as easy to perform as imagined. Makes you wonder how flimsy the evidence must have been. Now maybe three separate magnificent juries who decide not to play ball is an indication of people’s dissatisfaction with immigration operations. Don’t worry – I’m sure there will be another person filming the police or burning an American flag that prosecutors can divert their important resources against.
