Light Smoothie recipe (3 ingredients)

While some reach out to smoothies like a health or convenience choice, I reach out of pure love. The rest is just a bonus. I love a good creamy, fruity smoothie and drink one for breakfast or as a snack any weekday. The fact that they are quick to manufacture and laptop mean that I end up doing very of smoothies.

Although I mix things up, throwing all kinds of things into a blender and seeing what happens, I have my tried and tested smoothies I return to again and again. The one I probably make the most is also the simplest. It only requires three ingredients and takes less than five minutes to whip up. Plus, you can add extras that you find appropriate.

A perfect blend of ingredients

Since this smoothie has only three ingredients, all three are key and chosen for specific reasons. I love using kefir for smoothies as it has creamy and seaweed of yogurt with a more fluid texture. By adding a cup of kefir to this smoothie, this is the only liquid you need. That said, if your blender is not high -powered, you may need to add a splash of water and give it a voting.

I use plain kefir because I don’t like my smoothies too sweet. Depending on your sweet tooth you have options! Kefir is available in different variants, including vanilla, which is a good choice here for a less sour smoothie. Blueberries or strawberries would also be good.

A mixture of frozen berries means you get more flavor in a practical package. You can always swap for all a berry, such as strawberries or blueberries. Frozen, ripe banana adds natural sweetness and tons of creaminess. I never make a smoothie without it. I like to mature a bunch of bananas until they have lots of stains (but before they get mushy), peel and divide them into 1-inch chunks and freeze them on a baking sheet. Transferred to a bag they last for six months.

Funny additions

This smoothie has lots of flavor on its own, but depending on my mood I add an extra ingredient or two just to mix things up. Here are some of my favorites:

  • A spoonful of nut butter (I like the salt, smooth almond butter best)
  • A little beer of painted flax or hemp hearts
  • If you are comfortable with a weird color, add a handful of baby spinach or green cabbage
  • A splash of orange juice
  • For protein lovers, a small spoon protein powder plus a little water

(Keep the screen awake)

  • 1 cup Vanilla Kefir

  • 1 medium mature bananacut into 1-inch pieces and frozen

  • 1 cup Frozen mixed berries

  1. Add the ingredients to the blender:

In this order add kefir, then banana, then berries. Start at low speed for several seconds, then increases very slowly the speed until a smooth and creamy mixture is formed. Stir once or twice if necessary. If your blender can’t quite do, add water or milk, one small splash at a time until the mixture comes together.
