Hear Doggy Flatty Dog Toy Review — Squeakless Dog Toy

I love my dog more than I love most people, so of course, like many puppy parents, I spoil the heck out of him. But as much as I love Rocco, I can’t handle the loud squeaking sound of plush toys – especially when I’m trying to read or work from home. So I set out to find a solution that would make him happy and give me peace and quiet. Enter the Hear Doggy Flatty Toy.

Get this: It still squeaks, but at a sound frequency only dogs can hear.

According to the description, it has an “ultrasonic, silent squeaker that is beyond human hearing.” How is that possible? Hear Doggy’s squeakers are tuned to a frequency between 24 and 28 kilohertz, which is virtually silent to humans. Since puppies can hear up to 45 kilohertz, they’ll still get all the squeaky fun out of this toy.

My Rocco is a three-year-old Morkie with the energy of a puppy, and if there’s one thing he loves more than cheese treats and hugs, it’s his extensive collection of flat squeaky toys. When he’s ready for playtime, the 9-pound furball trots over to his toy bin to grab a “flatty” for a game of fetch. When he’s done zooming around and fetching, he loves to plop down on the couch and squeak. He can have the same fun experience of creaking for what feels like hours and I can get some quiet time.

The plugless but plush gator toy is the perfect size for both small dogs like Rocco and larger pups, but the brand also sells a variety of animals. And thanks to its unique “Chew Guard Technology” and reinforced seams, it’s practically indestructible, meaning it won’t fall apart on day one.

Rocco’s ears perked up – literally – when he heard the rustle of my unboxing, and as soon as he caught a glimpse of the flat, his eyes lit up with joy and his tail wagged like crazy. The Hear Doggy Flatty felt very sturdy and well made and was the perfect size for little Rocco.

As soon as he got his paws on the cow, he was off, zooming up and down the house, full of excitement. Finally he stopped, shook it like a rag doll, and trotted over to his bed to move on to the squeaky phase of playtime. Rocco squeaked and squeaked – but I didn’t hear a sound, only little whiffs of air when I got close. He was as excited as he usually is with his regular, very loud squeaky toy. We both loved every minute of it!

I caught up on some reading, watched an episode of my favorite show, and caught up with my mom on FaceTime without interruption. Rocco was happy as a clam and ran around with his new favorite Flatty for over an hour.

It’s been about two weeks, and to my delight, it’s his new go-to flatty from the toy bin. Who knows if he’ll ever tire of it, but so far I think I love this squeaky toy more than Rocco!

I’m not the only Amazon pet parent who’s excited about it, either. More than 2,500 customers give it a five-star rating.

We have a 10 month old German Shepherd puppy who loves his squeaky toy. This is common sense,” said one person. “She squeaks all she wants and I can read or watch TV. The size is perfect for her. Quality good. Durability OK. Peace in the house fantastic.”

“These are very good for chewers!” shared another. “This is the non-squeak. My dog could hear it, but I couldn’t. He’s a labradoodle and literally nothing goes with him! This [toy] lasted for several months until he got the fluff opened.”

Luckily, my pup loves this quiet toy as much as I do, and Amazon has a bunch of cute Hear Doggy animals so I can continue to add to his growing collection.
