The Costco -freezer finds worth buying a membership for (I am occupied)

As a kid, I was digging against the most intensely sour candy I could get my hands on. If it didn’t threaten to turn my face from the inside out, I wouldn’t have it.

Sour Patch Kids and Trolli Gummy Worms? For tam. Instead, my allowance went against crying babies, contents and tears that I would popping in my mouth on the bus trip to school as a way of impressing the one sitting next to me.

I had almost forgotten my sour candy occupation until last year when I started seeing a new frozen Godbit all over Tiktok. It was called Fruit Riot, Tiktok creators promised it was the most sour thing everAnd I had to find some for myself.

What is Fruit Riot?

Fruit uprising is frozen fruit that is sprayed with lemon and rolled in a sour candy coating. I like to tell friends that it has the taste of the youthful enthusiasm in itself.

Fruit Riot transports me right back to listening to Spice Girls on my discman on the school bus. It is bright and surprising and fun, the opposite of serious, mandatory or boring, and thus it is exactly what I, a 41-year-old mother of two, need in my life.

The first product in Fruit Riot Empire was sour grapes, a bag of frozen red and green grapes coated in acidic goodness. The grapes are intensely sour with a pleasant slushy frozen structure.

The rest of the lineup includes the Sour Grape Mix, which introduces three sour flavors (lemon lime, green apple and my favorite, mixed berries); Sur mango; Sour pineapple; A spicy mango that plays on the classic mating of mango and tajín; Extreme sour grapes, which are a collapse of war heads; And Candy Crunch Cherries, a breakdown with Olipop that is not angry, but nonetheless is lovely.

Why i love fruit -uplifting

Apart from making me feel more alive, what I love about Fruit Riot is that it is an easy treat to enjoy right from the freezer.

Although it is covered in ‘Candy’ in the core, it is still fruit, which helps to dampen any fault I may feel about eating half a bag while I see Love Island. (Although I now think about it, the blame is more about what I look at than what I eat.)

The best way to enjoy fruit revolt is in what I call a frozen fruit salad (not to be confused with the retro recipe with the same name). In this version of fruit salad, I cool a ceramic bowl in the freezer until it is lovely and cold and then loads it with a mixture of sour grapes, sour mango and sour pineapple that I eat with my fingers until the inside of my mouth feels like a toxic wilderness in the best possible way.

I can see a long life for Fruit Riot if they continue to introduce new sour fruits and flavor combinations. I would very much like to see blueberries enter the chat and more flavored coatings, such as sour grape or blue raspberries.

Whatever comes next for Fruit Riot, I will hamsters bags in my freezer.

Where do one find fruitless

Fruit Riot was difficult to track. Last year, it was almost impossible to find a bag where I live in Richmond, Virginia, thanks to its social media rush. Lately I’ve been successful in buying them at Wegmans, Whole Foods and Target.

I heard that they are also available at Costco, which has led me to consider renewing my long sleeping Costco membership. I need a supersized bag of sour fruit!
